2026 is an election year, and we are already hearing/reading about candidates. (We’re probably receiving multiple requests for campaign donations, too.) Here’s the basic information we need. Our source:

First, Here’s your 2026 election timetable:
[July 20 – deadline to register to vote or change party affiliation for the primary]
[August 6 – deadline to request ballot by mail*]
[August 7-16 – primary early voting – 10am-6pm]
[August 18 – primary election day – 7:00am-7:00 pm]
October 5 – deadline to register to vote in the general election
October 19 – November 1 – early voting (times TBD)
October 22 – deadline to request ballot by mail*
November 3 – election day – 7:00am-7:00pm
Have you Voted By Mail in the Past?
If you want to continue to Vote By Mail or would like to start doing so, you must go to the Duval County Election site and sign up.
As of December 31, 2024, everyone who wants to do so must go through the sign-up process. You may use the link below or call 904-255-VOTE (8683).

Next--important to know but too late for this year since the primary has already taken place, Florida is a "closed primary" state. That means only voters registered with a political party could vote in that party's Primary Election. You can change your party affiliation by submitting an updated Voter Registration Application at any time, but the change must be made 29 days before a Primary Election in order to be valid for that election. All registered voters, regardless of party affiliation, may vote on issues and nonpartisan races during a Primary Election.
Your party does not affect your ballot for any election other than a Primary Election.

Soil and Water Conservation Districts, Subdistricts 1, 3, and 5
Circuit Court Judges, Groups 4, 6, 8, 10, 21, 26, 27, 28, and 30
County Court Judges, Groups 1, 6, 13,14, and 16
